Joseph Shiroko brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to disability rights and community development. With over three decades of professional experience, Shiroko has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and empowerment for persons with disabilities in Kenya and beyond.
Since 1996, Shiroko has served as a consultant at Brian Resource Centre, specializing in Disability and Inclusion, Community Development, and Business. His consultancy work, including collaborations with national organizations like the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and Handicap International, has been instrumental in advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities, providing training in income-generating activities such as farming and waste recycling, and fostering awareness within communities about disability issues.
Shiroko's dedication to education and training is evident through his roles as a part-time lecturer at the Central Bank of Kenya’s School of Monetary Studies and as a lecturer and trainer at the National Bank Training School. His expertise in auditing and accounting, gained from positions such as Assistant Auditor at the Exchequer and Audit Department of the Central Government, has contributed significantly to ensuring financial integrity and compliance in various organizations.
In addition to his professional achievements, Shiroko is deeply engaged in community initiatives and leadership roles. As a Board member of CBM Global Kenya, he advocates tirelessly for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities, leveraging his expertise to shape policies and programs that promote accessibility, empowerment, and equal opportunities for all.
Shiroko's commitment to community service extends beyond his board responsibilities. He actively participates in charitable works and holds leadership roles within the Anglican Church, where he leads the Disability Ministry and contributes to the Pastoral Care Pillar at the All-Saints Cathedral.
Joseph Shiroko holds a Master's in Business Administration (Management Science) and a Bachelor's in Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi. He is a certified public accountant (CPA III) and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers London. His dedication, expertise, and passion for disability rights make him a valuable asset to CBM Global Kenya and a champion for inclusive development worldwide.
